The 8th International Summer School on Information Retrieval offers high quality teaching on Information Retrieval and related research topics. ESSIR is *THE* only world-wide school in Information Retrieval, with temporal regularity founded in 1990.

ESSIR'11 in a nutshell:

- High-quality program and speakers (including Ricardo Baeza-Yates, Hinrich Schuetze, Stefan Rueger, Nigel Shadbolt, and others)

- Very reasonable fees (325 EUR on or before 30th June 2011, 425 EUR 1th July 2011 and later)

- Quite attractive venue (central location in the heart of Europe)

- Nice social program and attractive co-located events

ESSIR 2011 offers high-quality teaching in Computer Science disciplines related to Information Retrieval, at the Master level of University education.

ESSIR 2011 will contribute to the expenses of some full-time students and PhD students attending the School by awarding a number of grants.

Upon successful participation in ESSIR 2011 lectures, participants can receive a written "Acknowledgement of participation" and/or a "Transcript of records" in ECTS format (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

All school participants are invited (and strongly encouraged) to bring a poster and to present their research interests and current investigations in the poster session of ESSIR. This is an excellent opportunity to collect freindly feedback on own work from other students and from experienced researchers, including ESSIR lecturers!
