=====

For the very first time, students will have an opportunity to study Library and Information Science with a focus on international digital librarianship in Beijing through a two-week course offered by the ILS Program at Southern Connecticut State University in the U.S. The course is offered on June 11 - 24, 2011.

The program is designed to benefit students two-fold. Program participants will attend seven lectures and tour five of the best libraries in Beijing including the new building of National Digital Library over the span of two weeks to give students a Chinese perspective on international digital librarianship. Students will have the opportunity to meet international information and library professionals, acquire practical knowledge of the technical aspects of database construction and develop additional professional competences. Not only will students be surrounded and exposed to some of the world's leading technology in the field, but they will also have the opportunity to visit some of the world's most magnificent places. The class will be taking trips to Tian An Men Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, and the Temple of Heaven just to name a few. This course has no pre-requisites and is for both undergraduate, graduate, and non-degree seeking students. Estimated program costs will be $3,050, which includes everything but not tuition, books, medical care while abroad and any additional expenses that alter itinerary or arrangements. Financial aid and scholarships will be available for applicants. Don't miss this once-in-a lifetime experience, while earning 3 undergraduate or graduate-level credits.
