Hi, Rong. Thank you so much for the info. I didn't know any of that. Duh, Hope.

Here are two more items that might be of interest to everyone.

I follow the scientific social networking community Science 3.0 and they have a useful discussion here
http://www.science3point0.com/blog/2010/10/14/the-science-3-0-etherpad/

of the tool Etherpad,

http://etherpad.org/

which everyone who has not tried might like to play around with.

Also, there is a rather use blog in The Scholarly Kitchen about Amazon Singles:

http://scholarlykitchen.sspnet.org/2010/10/14/information-brunching-amazon-singles-finds-space-between-essays-and-books/

This is useful reading for those of interested in the future of the monograph.

This was actually one of the products by flowing media. They have lots of programs on social data visualization, and seer is one of them. Founders of flowing media are Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg, and they both are now with Google.

Hi, all. This is strictly a bit of fluff, but it might actually be useful in some search situations. I saw this demonstrated in a lighting talk at the LITA National Forum earlier this month by Ann Perbohner, Dartmouth College. Try it out with the phrases, “Why do women…” and “Why do men…”

http://hint.fm/seer/

or “Republicans are…” and “Democrats are…”
