The Health Informatics Program, College of Health Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, invites nominations and applications for a full time, 9-month tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position. This position will support the Masters of Science degree in Health Care Informatics, the undergraduate program in Health Care Administration, the Ph.D. in Medical Informatics and the Ph.D. in Health Sciences. The appointment will begin August 23, 2010.  

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a Carnegie-designated Doctoral/Research Extensive institution committed to academic excellence. It is one of two doctoral degree-granting institutions in the multi-campus University of Wisconsin System, and has an enrollment of over 25,000 students. UWM’s 93-acre campus is located on Milwaukee’s east side, near Lake Michigan. 

The Program is multidisciplinary involving not only faculty in the Health Care Administration and Health Informatics programs, but also in Management Information Systems (Lubar School of Business Administration), Computer Science (College of Engineering and Applied Science), College of Nursing,  and the School of Information Studies. The Program aims to prepare graduates to assume leadership information management roles in a wide range of health care organizations as well as researchers in the field of health informatics. 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will participate in program planning and management, teaching, advising students, developing and maintaining an active line of research and seeking extramural funding. The successful candidate will also engage in university, professional and community service activities. 

Qualifications Assistant Professor: Required - Candidates must hold an earned doctorate, preferably in health care informatics, MIS or related field and an excellent publication record.  Exhibit the potential for establishing an active research program and a record of external funding. 

Desired - Evidence of graduate level teaching. Applicants with substantial professional experience in biomedical informatics, public health informatics or the planning, implementing and managing of clinical and administrative health information systems are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications Associate/Full Professor: Required - Candidates must hold an earned doctorate, preferably in health care informatics, MIS or related field.  The successful candidate must have an active research program, a record of external funding, and evidence of graduate level teaching. Faculty rank and tenure will be commensurate with experience.
