Greetings and Salutations:

The 2009 iteration of the Music Information Retrieval Evaluation
eXchange (MIREX) is officially open.

The official MIREX 2009 wiki page is located at:

http://www.music-ir.org/mirexwiki

Please read the MIREX wiki pages carefully as there is a great deal
information to digest.

We are, as usual, looking for folks to help lead in the various tasks.
We are, as usual, interested in new tasks and new data sets.

The International Conference on Music Information Retrieval (ISMIR),
where all MIREX participants come together to discuss their results, is
a little later this year. ISMIR/MIREX will be held 26-30 October 2009 in
spiffy Kobe, Japan. Because of this, we have set the following target dates:

15 July 2009: Tasks finalized and participants committed.
15 August 2009: All algorithm submitted.

Note, as in past years, we will probably have rolling deadlines based on
task. Please follow closely the wiki pages for tasks you are interested in.

Also note, the majority of MIREX email exchanges and announcements will
be made via the EvalFest mailing list
(https://mail.isrl.uiuc.edu/mailman/listinfo/evalfest) and not the more
general music-ir at ircam.fr list. Be sure to subscribe to the EvalFest
list if you are interested in MIREX.

Remember, MIREX is a community-driven evaluation exchange. Your
participation, leadership, involvement and algorithms are what make
MIREX the success that is it. It is also rather fun and cool but don't
tell anyone.

Cheers and looking forward to the best MIREX ever,
J. Stephen Downie on behalf of the MIREX team.

PS Also looking forward to meeting you at the MIREX plenary and poster
session in Kobe!
