NFAIS Forum on Google, the Web and the Future Roles of Publishers and
Librarians: Archived Webcast Available through July 10, 2009.
The Webcast of the NFAIS workshop on Google, the Web, and the Future Roles
of Publishers and Librarians is now available for viewing through Friday,
July 10, 2009. If you were unable to attend the live session held on June
26th, you still have an opportunity to listen to the presentations while
viewing the slides, and hear the questions and answers and overall
discussion.

Highlights include the opening Keynote by Stephen Arnold, author of the
recently released Google: The Digital Gutenberg, who discussed Google's
evolution, their competitive advantages, and the media roles that they are
positioned to play in the not-too-distant future; a presentation by Anne
Prestamo, Oklahoma State University, who provided a look at what libraries
are doing to provide value in today's web-based environment; presentations
on the value provided by A&I services from Linda Beebe, American
Psychological Association, Don Hagan, National Technical Information
Services, and James Pringle, Thomson Reuters Healthcare and Science; a
discussion of the opportunities offered to Publishers by Google and other
web search engines by Terry Hulbert, American Institute of Physics; and the
closing keynote by Roy Tennant, Senior Program Officer, OCLC Programs and
Research, who shared his insights on the future role of libraries and
publishers in the face of Web information resources such as Google, what
they must do in order to ensure that that they continue to meet the
information needs of future generations of scholars and researchers.

Registration Fees:
NFAIS members pay $295 and non-members pay $345. A group discount is
available: Unlimited attendees from the same organization can access the
Webcast for a flat fee of $995.
