MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE NFAIS 2010 ANNUAL CONFERENCE
FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 2, 2010

The 2010 NFAIS Annual Conference, Redefining the Value of Information:
Exploring the New Equation, is scheduled to take place February 28 - March
2, 2010 at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue in Philadelphia, PA.
The conference theme description, press release, hotel
information/directions, and information on Philadelphia are now available
at: http://www.nfais.org/events/event_details.cfm?id=58 .

Opening with a keynote presentation by Clay Shirky
(http://www.monitortalent.com/talent/Clay-Shirky-Profile.html), Internet
guru and author of Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without
Organizations, the conference will take a look at the measures information
seekers currently use to define information value and why these are
important to them. For while credibility, authority, and quality remain key
factors, information and technology are now inseparable, and as a result new
criteria for defining the value of information products and services have
entered the equation. The conference will look at critical issues such as
the blending of internal and external content along with multimedia formats,
the leveraging of new forms of communication such as Twitter, improving the
user search experience and the precision of search results, differentiating
the subtle difference between product value and product functionality, and
introducing new business models and practices that support the new value
proposition. Highlights will include case studies by organizations who have
already redefined their value, the Miles Conrad Lecture, and a visionary
closing keynote on the changing value of information.

Attend the 52nd NFAIS Annual Conference to hear about some of the approaches
being taken to redefine the value of information and to interact with
industry experts who are already grappling with this critical issue. No
matter what role you play in the information community - content or
technology provider, librarian, information professional, or educator - join
us and learn how to raise the user perception of value for your information
products and services.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR NOW! Registration will open September 1, 2009.
