The School of Information and Library Science at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill is pleased to host the fourth annual iSchools
Conference, iSociety: research, education, engagement on Feb. 8 – 11,
2009. The iConference will be held at the William and Ida Friday Center for
Continuing Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

This international conference will bring together scholars, information
professionals and students from diverse backgrounds and shared interests in
information science, technology and library science. With the theme
iSociety: research, education, engagement, the conference will reflect on
the core activities of the iSchools community as we move more fully into
the iSociety. These reflections include: research topics, practices,
methods and epistemologies appropriate to an iSchool; educational practices
in iSchools; and engagement between the iSchools and wider constituencies
both in the U.S. and abroad. With guest speakers, paper sessions, poster
sessions, roundtables, “wildcard” sessions, junior faculty mentoring, a
doctoral colloquium, special workshops and ample opportunities for
conversations and connections, the conference celebrates and engages our
multidisciplinary efforts to understand the scholarly, educational and
engagement dimensions of the iSchool movement.

The preliminary program is available at:

Feb. 8 with a Doctoral Colloquium (by invitation) and a Jr. Faculty
Mentoring Session that is open to all assistant professors, instructors,
adjuncts, post-docs or other pre-tenure titles. It’s an opportunity to
gain feedback about your interests from iSchool peers and prominent senior
faculty. For more details and a list of mentors, visit the iConference Web
site at: http://www.ischools.org/index.php/iconferences/jr_faculty/

The iConference program will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, and

each day of the conference are included in the conference fee. Wine and
