HOW DOES ENTERPRISE SEARCH WORK?

Learn what is behind search engines and how research studies can improve
results

A program by Ed Dale, KWeb Search Program Manager / User Experience Program
Manager, Ernst & Young

Ed Dale is the search program manager for the Ernst & Young LLP intranet. He
will be give a brief overview of information retrieval in an intranet
environment, the specific challenges in terms of content and technology and
will discuss an ongoing TREC like relevancy improvement program and its
results. 

This event is presented by the Northern Ohio Chapter, American Society for
Information Science and Technology. All are welcome to enjoy our Annual
meeting and program for free but there is a $16 charge for dinner. Students,
between jobs and retired pay the reduced rate of $12 for dinner.
On the menu: wraps and salad from Northpark Brew 'n Bistro.

	If you Mapquest 20680 North Park Blvd, Shaker Heights, 44118. That
will get you to Pizzazz, near the John Carroll University guardhouse. There,
you turn right, drive about 50 yards to the guard house. After checking in
with the guard, turn right. Then follow the drive around the edge of campus
to Administration Drive. Turn left, go half a block to a jog in the drive,
where you turn left into the temporary lot. The library is a modern building
on the far side of the lot. The Mackin Room is in the basement, down the
stairs near the reference desk. Then jog to the right and go straight ahead
to the Lecture Room at the end of the hall.  

	Local directions for getting here from the south are to come up
Warrensville, turn right onto Fairmount Circle, then turn right onto North
Park Blvd. *NE*    // From the north, come south on Warrensville, past
Cedar. When you see a BP station on the left, turn right onto Fairmount
Circle.  Go 2/3s of the way around the circle to North Park Blvd. *NE*.  //
>From both directions, drive one block on North Park NE to a stop sign. Turn
right.  Then the guardhouse is nearby on the left. Turn right at the
guardhouse, drive around the perimeter drive until you come to
Administration Drive. Turn left.  Go a short distance to the Temporary Lot
on your left.  The library is a modern building on the far side of the lot.
Take the stairs near the reference desk and follow the signs to the Mackin
Room.

Parking: 
	Visitors do not need permits to park after 5:00 on Friday nights.
When people leave the meeting. they probably will have to follow the
perimeter drive all the way around campus to the Belvoir gate.  That will
put them out onto Belvoir between Washington and Carroll.
