TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION

 The School of Library and Information Studies at University of Oklahoma invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin fall 2009 at the rank of Assistant Professor.  The successful candidate will have responsibility for research, teaching, and service and will be based at the University of Oklahoma's Norman campus.

The research and teaching goals of the School focus on applications of information and communications technologies, services to multicultural populations with special emphasis on Native Americans, and interdisciplinary approaches to information problems.   The OU School of Library and Information Studies offers the ALA-accredited Master of Library and Information Studies, the Master of Science in Knowledge Management, and the Bachelor of Arts in Information Studies. All SLIS faculty are expected to be active in all degree programs.  Additionally, interdisciplinary dual master's programs that meet Graduate College requirements may be designed for and offered to individual students. The faculty position is a nine-month appointment, with possible opportunities for summer teaching.  Faculty assignments include teaching (at the School's main sites in Norman and Tulsa as well other instructional sites when needed), research, and service.  Instruction is provided both live on-site and via telecommunications and digital technology.

Required qualifications:

 *   Doctoral degree (completed or nearly completed) in library and information science or a related field.
 *   Record of published research or demonstrated research potential.
 *   Ability to work with multiple internal and external constituencies.
 *   Ability to teach within theoretical and practical applications of information and communication technologies.
Preferred:

 *   Ability to teach one or more master's degree core courses (Information and Knowledge Society, Information Users in the Knowledge Society, Management of Information and Knowledge Organizations, Organization of Information and Knowledge Resources).
 *   Experience or demonstrated ability in design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats, including distance learning modes.
