The Swedish School of Library and Information Science searches
University Professor of Library and Information Science
Fulltime, conditional tenure
Place of work: Borås, Sweden
Registration nr: 169-08-40
The department of Library and Information Science searches a professor, full
or associate, with a
comprehensive and well documented experience of research and education. Work
responsibilities include
teaching at the undergraduate, master's and Ph.D. levels, conducting and
publishing research, and
supervising doctoral students. We expect the successful applicant to be able
to contribute to the
development of educational programs, research and research image of the
department and the
University College. We also expect the successful applicant to have contacts
and co-operation with
companies and organisations from the professional field. Usually, teaching
and Ph.D. student supervision
correspond to about 50 percent of the employment for a full professor and 75
percent for an associate
professor.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in library and information science
or a closely related area.
Formal requirements for a professor include documented skill in research and
teaching methods.
For an associate professor we require, apart from the doctoral degree, a
pedagogic education at the
university level (15 ECTS) or equivalent knowledge, i.e., documented
experience of research and
teaching, including expertise in teaching is required.
In addition, applicants should have documented research experience focusing
on information use, the
interaction between users and information technology, or other research
expertise that is in line with, or
complements, the research areas of the department.
Interdisciplinary collaboration with other researchers and professionals
within and outside the academy,
as well as a documented ability to obtain and conduct externally financed
research projects are sought.
We also seek individuals who have broad interest for both basic and applied
research and for
development work.
The qualifications for employment as professor can be found in the Higher
Education Ordinance, chapter
4, section 5. Equal importance should be attached to expertise in research
and teaching methods. A
documented ability to conduct research activities and to duly inform about
research and development
work is also important. It is qualifying if applicants can understand
swedish or on other scandinavien
language.
More information will be given by the school's dean, Margareta Lundberg
Rodin, phone +46 33- 435 44
13 or Professor Lars Höglund +46 33- 435 43 06. Union representatives are
Angela Zetterlund for SACO
and Lars Seldén for OFR.
Please complete the application, marked with the registration number, with a
CV including report on
research and pedagogic experience, plus documentation of skilfulness in
teaching methods, a publication
list and a maximum of ten published works or other merits. All application
documents should be in three
copies. As a support for organisation of the CV and enclosures, the
University College has prepared a
"Portfolio of Qualifications", see
http://www.hb.se/org/orgdok/personal/meritengelska.pdf
Application documents with references and salary expectation together with a
