Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Web Developer / Reference Librarian to work under contract for the US AID Library in Washington, DC. The Developer will create and maintain web pages for region and sector specific bureaus within USAID as well as providing regular references services.
Responsibilities
* Develops and maintains web pages for region- and sector-specific bureaus within USAID in collaboration with Agency staff.
* Provides reference services through regular duty at the reference desk and by responding to virtual information requests using a wide variety of databases, including Nexis, Dialog, Factiva, D&B, and FirstSearch.
* Develops graphics and PowerPoint presentations for Agency staff;
* Stays abreast of the information needs and trends within the areas of foreign assistance, economic development, and development organization; stays abreast of trends in library and information science and web development.
Qualifications
* At least 4 years experience with Web development & management, HTML, and Web editors
* Minimum one year experience providing reference services in a special, academic, or public library;
* Experience with database searching, particularly Lexis/Nexis, Dialog, Factiva, D&B and international databases;
* Demonstrated skills in PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator, and other graphics software;
* Excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
* Familiarity with content management systems;
* Knowledge of foreign affairs, foreign assistance, economic development, or developing countries desirable;
* Proficiency in GIS a plus;
* U.S. citizenship required.
