Winner of the LACASIS Contributions to Information
Science and Technology Award

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Carol Tenopir
has been selected as the 2007 recipient of the
Contribution to Information Science & Technology Award
(CISTA). CISTA is an annual award given by the Los
Angeles Chapter of the American Society of Information
Science & Technology (LACASIS) to honor an individual
who has made significant contributions to the field of
information science. Recipients are those individuals
who are recognized by their colleagues as exceptional
leaders whose dedication, commitment and vision
inspire others, or whose singular contribution to the
field of information science has been particularly
significant.

Dr. Tenopir , our 2007 honoree, is Professor at the
School of Information Sciences at the University of
Tennessee , Knoxville and the Director of Research for
the College of Communication and Information, and
Director of the Center for Information and
Communication Studies. Her areas of teaching and
research include: information access and retrieval,
electronic publishing, the information industry,
online resources, and the impact of technology on
reference librarians and scientists. She is the author
of five books, over 200 journal articles and is a
frequent speaker at professional conferences.  Dr.
Tenopir holds a PhD degree in Library and Information
Science from the University of Illinois .

Dr. Tenopir will receive her award and speak about her
work at the annual LACASIS Awards Dinner on January
31st, 6-9 pm at the UCLA Faculty Center .
