Hello,
(Sorry for cross-posting)
I have the honor to announce that this year the SIG USE award for Outstanding Contributions to Information Behavior will be given to Professor Reijo Savolainen. Reijo Savolainen is Professor at the Department of Information Studies, University of Tampere, Finland.
The purpose of this award is to promote scholars who have, over a period of time, contributed in an outstanding way to the development of the information behaviour research field. Reijo Savolainen has for many years investigated information seeking and related practices, empirically as well as theoretically. His research has furthered our understanding of information practices and it has given the empirical field of information seeking and use in everyday life a prominent role. Furthermore, his phenomenological investigations have significantly contributed to the theoretical development of the research field.
Savolainen’s contribution of solid and in-depth research certainly deserves recognition. Past years' awards have been given to Brenda Dervin, Carol Kuhlthau and Marcia Bates. The award comes with a $500 check.
Sincerely,
Olof Sundin,
SIG USE Chair 2007/2008
