Director, Dalhousie University School of Information Management
The Dalhousie University School of Information Management invites
Applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Associate Professor or
Professor level (dependent upon qualifications and experience) commencing
July 1, 2009. In addition to an academic appointment, this is a leadership
position in Dalhousie University's Faculty of Management. The Faculty has a
unique commitment to values-based management and interdisciplinary research
and learning. We seek an additional colleague who will lead and thrive in
this environment.
At the graduate level the School of Information Management offers 1) an
Onsite Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) accredited by the
American Library Association, 2) Canada's first mid-career, cost-recovery
Master of Information Management (MIM) designed for the public and private
sectors available principally by distance, and 3) four combined graduate
degrees (with Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, and
Environmental Management). At the undergraduate level, the School of
Information Management contributes to the interdisciplinary Bachelor of
Management degree with the three additional schools in the Faculty of
Management (Business Administration, Public Administration, and Resource and
Environmental Studies). In addition, the School participates in Dalhousie
University's Interdisciplinary PhD program.
The successful candidate will have:
+ a PhD in Library and Information Studies, Information Management, or other
pertinent field;
+ demonstrated leadership skills related to management of academic or
related programs;
+ a collaborative management style, with proven success in change
management;
+ a strong research record, demonstrated by publications and grants,
commensurate with experience and stage of career;
+ demonstrated success in teaching; and
+ professional experience will be an asset as the School of Information
Management is a professional school.

Information Management, the School's strategic goals include participation
in a Knowledge Management major in the Bachelor of Management program,
continuous evolution Of the MLIS, and development of additional research and
teaching collaborations with colleagues across Dalhousie's Faculty of
Management.
