[Asis-l] Digital Content Management Architect needed in New Jersey

Library Associates Companies (LAC) seeks a Digital Content Management Architect for a position within a premier academic institution located in New Jersey.  The Digital Content Management Architect will be responsible for developing an enterprise-wide digital content management strategy for the entire academic institution. 

 

Specifically, the Digital Content Management Specialist/Information Architect will: 

 

§         Define a roadmap for the next steps in the integration of institutional digital resources 

§         Define a comprehensive data repository "store," along with mechanisms to archive, search, and retrieve data securely 

§         Identify and help implement the hardware and software components to deliver effective collaboration tools to faculty, students, and staff 

§         Document the proposed information architecture for the university 

§         Guide the creation of policies that control retention and disposal of data 

§         Create and lead a cross-functional advisory team that includes the office of information technology, the Library, the Museum, the Digital Assets Management Committee, etc. 

§         Establish an approach for consolidating data and eliminating redundant systems 

§         Work with Departments to help them understand the benefits of using a consolidated data store 

 

Essential Qualifications: 

 

The successful candidate must have significant experience (5+ years) working with large collections of digitized materials. In addition, the successful candidate will be intimately familiar with current digital repository technology and metadata standards, including OAI, OKI OSIDs, WebDAV, web services, Dublin Core (and other metadata standards). It is particularly important that the candidate understand technologies that can be used to enhance inter-operability among and between digital repositories and academic applications (e.g., course management systems). 

 

The successful candidate must also have: 

 

§         Experience working with consolidating diverse digital collections from various constituencies into central data stores; 

§         Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain the benefits of digital repositories to academic and administrative staff 

§         Ability to collaborate with managers, staff, and customers from different levels of the organization and with varied levels of technical understanding;

§         Bachelor's degree or related experience 




 

Preferred Qualifications: 

 

§         Previous experience working in higher education or large highly decentralized organizations 

§         An advanced degree 

§         The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain positive working relationships with (and provide service to) individuals from diverse backgrounds.
