The School of Information and Library Science at the University of North 
Carolina at Chapel Hill invites nominations and applications for a 
tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. 
The School offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Science, Master of 
Science in Information Science, Master of Science in Library Science, and 
Doctor of Philosophy degrees. The School also offers an undergraduate minor 
in information systems, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Information 
and Library Science, and a variety of graduate certificates and dual

The faculty seeks an outstanding colleague with significant research and 
teaching strengths/potential appropriate to the broad field of information 
and library science. Applications are sought from those who would 
contribute in one or more of the following areas:

Collections and Collecting, such as resource selection and evaluation, 
collections management, collection development, licensing, digital 
repositories, and collaborative or consortia arrangements Information 
Resources and Services, such as reference, user services, public services, 
user education, and information literacy instruction Organization of 
Materials, Information, and Knowledge, including cataloging, 
classification, and metadata. Faculty are expected to engage in research, 
teach, advise students, participate in School, University, and professional 
activities, and otherwise share their expertise at both undergraduate and 
graduate levels.

An earned doctorate is required.  Candidates should provide evidence of 
research and teaching excellence, or potential for excellence, in their 
area of expertise.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with 
qualifications.
