The University of Minnesota Libraries seek visionary and creative
leadership for the position of Associate University Librarian for
Information Technology (AUL-IT). Reporting to the University Librarian,
the AUL provides administrative and programmatic leadership for
information technologies in the University Libraries system, a large,
comprehensive enterprise on the UM-Twin Cities campus. The AUL serves as
a member of the Libraries’ executive group, contributes to Libraries’
strategic planning, resource, and policy development and plays a
significant role within the campus IT enterprise.

The University’s recent strategic positioning process, coupled with
increased investment in the Libraries, creates a rich context for
program development and innovation. The Libraries program agenda
emphasizes campus collaboration and integration of library resources and
services within the teaching, learning, research, and service activities
of Minnesota’s flagship campus.

The University Libraries have a record of notable technology development
and significant opportunities for campus collaboration. These assets and
opportunities include:
* Systems such as LibData, the Undergraduate Virtual Library, UThink
Blog service, University Digital Conservancy, and recent investment in
social tools.
* A development partnership with Ex Libris to re-conceive discovery and
delivery of information resources and re-purpose bibliographic data.
* A recently completed technology assessment that lays the groundwork
for an active staff education curriculum.
* A Libraries organization that is committed to ongoing behavioral and
needs assessment to inform services.
* Strong partnerships with the campus IT organization, and research
partnerships with departments such as Computer Science.
