DCC/PLANETS/CASPAR/DPE Joint workshop: Developing an International Curation
and
Preservation Training Roadmap
Hotel West End,
Nice, France
29-30 March 2007
http://www.dcc.ac.uk/events/dicptr-2007/
The number of projects and institutions providing training on aspects
digital curation and preservation has increased dramatically in recent
years, resulting in a vast and often overwhelming number of courses for
potential attendees to choose from. It is clear that increased collaboration
is needed in order to establish a more co-ordinated approach.
The Digital Curation Centre (DCC), Preservation and Long-term Access through
NETworked Services (PLANETS), DigitalPreservationEurope (DPE), and Cultural,
Artistic and Scientific knowledge for Preservation, Access and Retrieval
(CASPAR) are pleased to announce a joint workshop to discuss the vision of a
shared roadmap for digital preservation and curation training. Participation
in this event is free, but spaces are limited to 25 participants. We are
keen to have representatives from a range of disciplines to help us develop
a robust shared training programme that is of benefit to a range of
communities of practice. This meeting has been initiated by members of DPE,
PLANETS, CASPAR and DCC to begin discussions on how projects might best work
together to establish a shared roadmap for digital preservation and curation
training. We would like to encourage attendance from as many key initiatives
and projects as possible, to ensure a high level of discussion and
productivity.
Benefits of attending
The meeting will provide the opportunity to develop a shared vision and
infrastructure for the provision of digital preservation and curation
training. This will include identifying key themes and topics that we might
offer collaboratively, discussing how disparate resources can be maximised,
and discussing practical means for sharing training information and content
between projects. Participation in the event will also enable future access
to an online collaborative training forum, a tool currently under
development which will allow projects to share their training needs and
resources.
