It is with the deepest sorrow that I write on behalf of Chancellor Nancy
Cantor and Vice Chancellor Eric Spina to notify you that our dear friend
and colleague Dean Emeritus Raymond von Dran passed away this morning. 
He was with his wife, Gisela, in New York City, where he took ill
suddenly this weekend.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Gisela and all
of their colleagues at the School of Information Studies.

We will update you with more information as we receive it.
