Do you like working in a fast-paced, small office environment around intelligent and very friendly people?  If so, Library Associates is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual for a Project Manager/Librarian position within a rapidly growing and exciting company located in Los Angeles, CA. 

We are looking for someone with library experience who has an MLS/MLIS (or equivalent experience), project management experience, and familiarity with cataloging/MARC records.  Our client, an international library and information management automation company, is looking to expand its team with a Project Manager who has experience in libraries and library science to help other librarians in the industry learn, grow, and succeed by using their products.  The main purpose of the position is to accomplish project objectives by planning, evaluating and coordinating project activities, along with providing excellent customer service and support to clients.  This is a small and dynamic work environment in which team-players, who show strong initiative, thrive. 


Primary Responsibilities

* Accomplishes objectives by selecting, assigning, and scheduling employees; communicating expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing contributions; planning and reviewing actions; enforcing policies, procedures and deliverables. 

* Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change. 

* Meets financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing a project budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. 

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations. 

* Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. 


Required Qualifications

* Cataloging (Classification and description in the MARC format); 

* 2-3 years Project management experience which includes: Budgeting, planning, scheduling, review and oversight of cataloging; 

* Experience with spreadsheets, reports, OCLC and automated library systems; 
* Currency with descriptive standards and holdings records; 

* Ability to work under deadlines, to manage projects through an entire lifecycle; 

* This position is full-time in a small, dynamic environment and you must demonstrate ability to work independently and establish priorities given the constraints and assets of the environment; 

* Some travel may be required. 
 
Preferred Qualifications

* MLS or MLIS
