[Asis-l] ASIS&T 2006 Awards to date

Award Winners for 2006 decided to date are listed below.  The Board policy
is now that none of our awards are secret.  So you will see below (and be
able to congratulate) some winners of what were secret awards.  All awards
will be presented at the Awards luncheon on Tuesday, November 7, in Austin,
Texas.

The ISI Information Science Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship to
Heather O'Brien from School of Business Administration at Dalhousie
University, for her research entitled "Measuring User Engagement with
Information Systems".

ISI Information Science Teacher of the Year Award to Tatjana Aparac-Jelusic,
from University J. J. Strossmayer in Osijek and University of Zadar, both
Croatia.

ProQuest Doctoral Dissertation Award- Vivien Petras, School of Information
Management and Systems, University of California, Berkeley for "Translating
Dialects in Search: Mapping between Specialized Languages of Discourse and
Documentary Languages."

The Best JASIST Paper Award to Lisl Zach (Louisiana State U.) for her paper
"When is 'enough' enough? Modeling the information-seeking and stopping
behavior of senior arts administrators," which appeared in volume 56, issue
1, pp. 23-35.

ASIS&T Research Award to Brenda Dervin, Ohio State University

The Watson Davis Award to Trudi Bellardo Hahn, University of Maryland, and
Steven Hardin, Indiana State University

The Award of Merit to Blaise Cronin, Indiana University
