[Asis-l] Prof. Merta's death

I do apologize for the fact that my fantastic ISP managed to truncate 3 
times in a row my messages sent through webmail while I was traveling.

Some explanations were obviously required together with the announcement 
of Prof. Merta's death.

Prof. Merta was during many years the director of the Institute of 
information science and librarianship of Charles University, Prague, 
Czech Republic.
He has been a key figure of our field both at the national and 
international levels. He was very active in the International Federation 
of Information and Documentation, especially with the Education committee.
Not less important were is personal qualities and humanity.
