Database Engineer / Administrator [Database
Modeling]

The Opportunity:

This position will develop both logical and
physical database models to support business
needs. Support the development team in
implementing subsequent code to work with these
designs. Participate in defining and promoting
‘Best Practices’ relating to database
development. Work concurrently on multiple
projects with development engineers to review and
recommend possible optimizations to design and
code. Perform analysis and reviews on complex
applications being released into production. Work
with a team of database engineers in the daily
administration of several production SQL Server
databases. 



Position Qualifications:

Qualified candidate must possess strong problem
solving and analytical skills combined with
technical and systems experience in a SQL Server
environment. 

Work with developers and business owners to
define system requirements. 
Design large-scale data models used within a
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 environment. 
Experience with Microsoft DTS and tuning and
optimizing databases. 
Perform routine and customary operational and
monitoring activities to ensure the database
environment is stable and capable of meeting
ongoing business needs. 
Demonstrate initiative to learn new skills and
expand job roles. 
Provides ideas to all areas of company where new
technology can be utilized to gain better
efficiency and improve company productivity. 
Work effectively with minimal supervision. 
Strong oral and written communication skills
required. 
Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to
effectively work with user community. 
Manage multiple projects simultaneously,
prioritize work and resolve technical issues. 
Exercise solid problem solving skills, gather and
analyze information thoroughly. 
Look for ways to improve and promote quality and
demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. 
Carry out other duties as assigned or requested. 



Education / Training / Certifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and/or
equivalent experience is preferred. 
Minimum 5 years technical experience with
Microsoft SQL Server, writing queries, functions
stored procedures and views.
