LACASIS Contribution to Information Science Award Dinner Program

Thursday, January 11, 2007 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

Please join us for an evening with one of the most celebrated scholars in the field of human-computer interaction and digital libraries, Dr. Gary Marchionini from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Information and Library Science.

2006 CTISA Award Recipient & Featured Speaker Dr. Gary Marchionini will present "Toward Multimedia Surrogation." This talk will explore the nature of surrogates for digital information. A multidimensional continuum of representations for information objects is crucial to knowledge work in a digitally enabled multimedia environment. Gary will outline a framework for this space and illustrate its genesis with examples from work with the Open Video Digital Library and federal statistical websites.
