This week, April 17-21, is Grand Opening Week of the SLIS Usability
Lab, used for research in the Master's Program in Information
Architecture and Knowledge Management (IAKM - http://iakm.kent.edu)
and in the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS -
http://www.slis.kent.edu). It is a state-or-the-art facility, with
the latest eye-tracking hardware and several analytical and
statistical software packages. It has already attracted a variety of
research projects.

As part of the celebrations, SLIS and the IAKM program are hosting a
panel discussion on usability on Wednesday, April 19, from 6:00-8:30
p.m. in Room 332 of the library.
The following usability professionals will be speaking on current
issues in the field, followed by a question and answer session with
the audience:

Monica Fry, Intuit
Jeff Janis, Progressive Insurance
Jeff Pearl, eMergent Marketing
Ken Weiss, Progressive Insurance

Should you wish to attend the event, please contact the IAKM office
at 330-672-5840 or iakminfo at kent.edu. Tours of the lab will be
available throughout the week, but contact the IAKM office for the schedule.
