NFAIS Forum on Web 2.0: Registration Discount Available Through October
21st.

NFAIS is organizing a one-day meeting - Web 2.0: Current Realities and a
Look to the Future - to be held on November 18, 2005 at PALINET
Headquarters, in Philadelphia, PA, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. Whether you are
an information provider utilizing the Web for the delivery of products and
services, a technology developer seeking to remain competitive with future
developments, or a librarian/information professional responsible for
providing your constituency with state-of-the art information products and
services, this meeting will provide you with a basic understanding of Web
2.0 and the diverse technologies that are being created to transform the Web
into an open collaborative workplace.

The event will begin with an overview of Web 2.0, along with the concepts
and vocabulary that surround it. This will be followed by a discussion of
the potential impact that the new Web environment could have on the roles of
publishers and information professionals together with the products and
services that they offer. The remainder of the day will focus on the
practical applications of new technologies such as Wiki software, Blogs, RSS
feeds, Newsreaders, Social Bookmarking Tools, and more! Learn from
early adopters how Wiki software can be used to create Knowledgebases for
the academic and research communities; how Blogs can serve as channels for
product delivery as well as for communication; how RSS feeds can disseminate
content from libraries and information providers; and how Social Bookmarking
tools can serve as a tool for the retrieval, sharing and personalization of
information. Join with other members of the information community to learn
about the current practicalities - as well as the future possibilities - of
the Web 2.0 environment.
