2006 Annual Conference

June 1 - 3, 2006, York University, Toronto


Information Science Revisited: Approaches to Innovation

With focus on innovative research and on information science as an evolving
field, the conference will provide information scientists with a forum for
presentation on three areas that form the conference program theme:

1. System design and evaluation:
Information retrieval, interface design, system effectiveness and
efficiency, information architecture, cost analysis.

2. Information and users:
User studies, information literacy, economic and political factors,
government initiatives, information communities.

3. Analysis and organization of information:
Informetrics and Webometrics, informatics, metadata, classification,
information science theory.

Conference proposal submission: Proposals for CAIS/ACSI 2006 should include
a title, be no more than 500 words long, and specify how they relate to one
of the areas within the conference program theme. Proposals with clearly
articulated theoretical grounding and methodology, and those that report on
completed or ongoing research will be given preference. Diverse perspectives
and methodologies are welcome. Proposals may be submitted in English or
French. Doctoral candidates are especially invited to submit proposals for
the conference. Highest ranked papers will, with permission of the authors,
be published in the Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science / La
revue canadienne de l'information et bibliothéconomie with their abstracts
appearing in the proceedings.


Deadline for proposals is January 16, 2006. Proposals, including the name(s)
of the author(s), complete mailing and e-mail addresses, telephone and fax
numbers, should be sent electronically in Word or Rich Text Format to Dr.
Haidar Moukdad, CAIS/ACSI 2006 Program Chair at cais2006 at cais-acsi.ca


Conference proposals will be refereed by the Program Committee. Authors will
be notified of the Committee's decision no later than February 20, 2006.
Papers to appear as full-text in the electronic proceedings must be
submitted no later than April 20, 2006. With permission of the authors,
abstracts of all papers presented at the conference will also be published
in the Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science / La revue
canadienne de l'information et bibliothéconomie.

The CAIS/ACSI 2006 conference will be held June 1-3, 2006, and is part of
the annual Congress of the Canadian Federation for the Humanities and Social
Sciences, which runs from May 27 to June 4, 2006 at York University,

Reconsidérer les sciences de l'information pour mieux faire face à
l'innovation



Convergeant sur la recherche innovatrice et sur les sciences de
l’information en constante évolution, le congrès offrira aux spécialistes de
l’information un cadre pour la présentation de trois domaines spécifiques
reliés au thème du congrès :

1. Conception et évaluation de système :
Recherche d’information, conception d’interface, efficacité et rendement des
systèmes, architecture de l’information, coût d’analyse.

2. Information et usagers :
Études des usagers, littératie informationnelle, facteurs économiques et
politiques, initiatives gouvernementales, communautés informationnelles.

3. Analyse et organisation de l’information :
Infométrie et webométrie, informatique, métadonnées, classification, théorie
des sciences de l’information.

Présentation d’une proposition au congrès : Les propositions pour l’ACSI /
CAIS 2006 doivent inclure un titre, ne pas dépasser 500 mots et indiquer
comment la proposition s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un des domaines définis par
le thème du congrès. La préférence sera accordée aux propositions ayant une
base théorique et une méthodologie clairement articulée et aux propositions
qui rendent compte des recherches complétées ou en cours. Diverses
perspectives et méthodologies sont les bienvenues. Les propositions peuvent
être soumises en anglais ou en français. Une invitation toute particulière à
soumettre une proposition pour le congrès est adressée aux candidats
doctoraux. Les articles ayant reçus les meilleures notes seront publiés,
avec l’autorisation des auteurs , dans La Revue canadienne des sciences de
l’information et de bibliothéconomie / Canadian Journal of Information and
Library Science et les résumés seront inclus dans les actes de congrès.

La date limite pour soumettre les propositions est le 16 janvier 2006. Les
propositions doivent inclure le(s) nom(s) du ou des auteur(s), les adresses
postale et de courrier électronique, les numéros de téléphone et de
télécopieur, et doivent être envoyées électroniquement en format Word ou RTF
à Dr Haidar Moukdad, ACSI / CAIS Président du programme à :
cais2006 at cais-acsi.ca


Toutes les propositions seront évaluées par le comité organisateur. Les
auteurs seront avisés de la décision du comité au plus tard le 20 février
2006. Les articles qui paraîtront dans les actes électroniques du congrès
doivent être soumis au plus tard le 20 avril 2006. Les résumés de tous les
articles présentés au congrès seront également publiés, avec l’autorisation
des auteurs, dans un numéro de La Revue canadienne des sciences de
l’information et de bibliothéconomie / Canadian Journal of Information and
Library Science.

Le congrès de l’ACSI / CAIS 2006, aura lieu du 1er au 3 juin 2006 et fait
partie du congrès annuel de la Fédération canadienne des sciences humaines,
qui est prévu du 27 mai au 4 juin 2006, à l’Université York, Toronto,
