CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Association for Information System's Special Interest Group on Human
Computer Interaction will have a Track at the 14th European Conference on
Information Systems (ECIS - http://www.ecis2006.se/) to be held in Göteborg,
Sweden, June 12-14, 2006. 

Track Description:

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is an interdisciplinary field that has
attracted researchers, educators, and practitioners from many different
disciplines. HCI has gained even more attention during recent years as
technology has developed at a fast pace. To better utilize advanced hardware
and software, we need to better understand users, their tasks within
different contexts, and the interplay among users, tasks, and
contexts/environments. HCI or Human Factors studies in MIS are concerned
with the ways in which humans interact with information, technologies, and
tasks, especially in business, managerial, organizational, and cultural
contexts. The aim of this track is to provide a forum for HCI researchers to
acknowledge each other’s work, and to discuss, develop, and promote a range
of issues related to the history, reference disciplines, theories, practice,
methodologies, techniques, new development, and applications of the
interaction between humans, information, and information technology. The
track is open to all types of research methodologies (e.g.,
conceptualization, theory development, case study, action research,
experimentation, survey, simulation).

Possible topics include (but are not limited to): 

-The perceptual, behavioural, cognitive, motivational, and
affective/emotional aspects of humans and their interaction with IT 

-User task analysis and modeling 

-Digital documents/genres and human information seeking behaviour 

-Informed user interface design and evaluation for all types of business and
organizational applications. 

-Multi-dimensional information visualizations 

-Integrated or innovative approaches and guidelines for analysis, design,
and development of interactive devices and systems 

-Usability engineering, metrics, and methods for user interface assessment 

-Evaluation of end-user computing in a work or non-work environment 

-Information technology acceptance and diffusion issues from cognitive,
behavioural, affective, motivational, cultural, and user interface design
perspective 

-The impact of interfaces/information technology on attitudes, behaviour,
performance, perception, and productivity 

-Issues in software learning and training 

-Gender and technology 

-Issues related to the elderly, the young and special needs populations
