Sponsored by AIS SIGHCI (http://sigs.aisnet.org/sighci)

Saturday, December 10, 2005 (One day workshop) Las Vegas, NV

Building upon past successes of the pre-ICIS HCI/MIS workshops as well as the tremendous interests in broad HCI issues exhibited by MIS colleagues, the AIS SIGHCI will hold its fourth annual pre-ICIS HCI/MIS research workshop prior to ICIS 2005 in Las Vegas, NV on Saturday, December 10, 2005.

IMPORTANT DATES:

-Late Registration (faculty: $150, student: $100) - October 22-November 28th

-Onsite Registration (faculty: $175, student: $100) - After November 28th

Registration includes continental breakfast, offsite lunch, coffee breaks, and reception. Participants that register for both the SIGHCI and SIG ISCoRE workshops receive a $15 registration fee discount.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVE:

The objective of the workshop is to provide an open and constructive discussion forum of important HCI research in Information Systems that addresses the ways humans interact with information, technologies, and tasks - especially in business, managerial, organizational, social and/or cultural contexts. HCI in MIS is concerned with the macro level (versus the micro level) of Human-Computer Interaction analysis. The purpose of the workshop is to identify important HCI/MIS problems and innovative research approaches.

In addition to 14 excellent paper presentations listed below (33% acceptance rate), this year's workshop will also include a keynote address by Dennis Galletta, Professor of IS at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. This keynote will focus on publishing HCI research from the perspective of an author. This keynote builds on last year's panel of editors-in-chief from premier MIS journals, who discussed the unique issues associated with publishing HCI research.
