Our client, a  global leader in information for health and medical
professionals is currently recruiting for a Database Design Analyst in
their Sandy, Utah facility.  The Database Design Analyst is responsible
for the overall design, development and deployment of bibliographic
and/or full text databases. Ultimately, the Database Designer is
responsible for the overall health and well-being of a database.



Primary Responsibilities:

 

 

*	Creating formal project evaluation documents (i.e. project
matrix) that will assist the Director of Database Design assess the
resources needed to implement the project.  

 

*	Developing internal specifications outlining the overall design
and functionality of the database under the most current version of the
software. 

 

*	Working with the data reformatting tools to convert the data
from the IP input format to the appropriate proprietary loading format

 

*	Working with database programming to implement complex database
designs.

 

*	Reviewing the iterative test loads prior to making them
available to the client or QA, to confirm that the implementation
adheres to the design specification.  

 

*	Coordinating the transition of the database from development to
production (involves working with Production, QA and Customer Support).

 

*	Acting as the technical contact person on all aspects of the
database during development and after deployment to the online system
and/or distribution on CD-ROM.  

 

*	Handling all on-going database maintenance issues (i.e. updates,
annual reloads) related to the databases after the database is certified
by the QA department and made available to customers.

 

*	Acting as a project manager with regard to all aspects of the
database project, thereby ensuring that the database project is
completed according to the project schedule.

 

Education:

*          MLIS required 

 

Experience:          

*	Extensive non-relational database searching
*	Experience with online database products
*	Experience working directly with customers
*	Experience with complex systems

 

Skills:     

*	Excellent oral and written communication skills 
*	Problem-solving skills 
*	Organizational skills  
*	Detail-oriented and self-motivated
*	Strong UNIX skills, DOS and Windows experience.  
*	XML, Perl, SGML, HTML knowledge preferred
