1. PRE-PROGRAM AND PLANNING MEETINGS IN AMSTERDAM AND NANCY

On the 1st of February, Dr. Joachim Schöpfel, Chairman of the GL7 Program
Committee and Marc Guichard, Head of External Relations at INIST met in
Amsterdam with the Program and Conference Director. The conference theme,
outline, and venue were among the topics discussed. This meeting will be
followed by another scheduled on March 15th in Nancy. The March itinerary
includes a site visit of the conference facilities, area hotels, and
further preparations in advance of the GL7 Program Committee Meeting that
will be held in June(Week 23) at INIST. http://www.textrelease.com/pages/2


2. CALL FOR PAPERS ~ THE HALLMARK OF THE CONFERENCE SERIES

Earlier this month, the GL7 Call-for-Papers was distributed via multiple
Listsevrs and placed on the conference website. Information professionals
who feel drawn to one of the commended topics dealing with ‘Open Access to
Grey Resources’ are invited to submit an abstract of their proposed paper.
These abstracts (300-400 words) must be received on or before May 17, 2005
in MS Word. Authors will receive verification upon receipt. The GL7 Program
Committee will then use these abstracts in order to finalize the Conference

4. THE GREY JOURNAL ~ FLAGSHIP FOR THE GREY LITERATURE COMMUNITY

The first issue of The Grey Journal, an international journal on grey
literature, will be launched in the spring of 2005. This flagship journal
crosses continents, disciplines, and sectors both public and private. The
Grey Journal not only deals with the topic of grey literature but also is
itself a document type that is classified as grey literature. It is akin to
other grey serial publications, such as conference proceedings, reports,
working papers, etc. The Grey Journal is geared to Colleges and Schools
of Library and Information Studies, as well as, information professionals,
who produce, publish, process, manage, disseminate, and use grey literature
e.g. researchers, editors, librarians, documentalists, archivists, etcetera.
