Deadline extended to February 21, 2005


The Library Research Round Table of the American Library Association honors excellent research with the Jesse H. Shera Award for Distinguished Published Research, a $500 award offered annually for the best research published in the previous year. We need your help in identifying candidates for this award.  February 21, 2005 is the deadline for submitting entries for the year 2004 award.

 

Please think about research articles published in the field of library and information studies during 2004 calendar year that might meet the criteria:

 

  1.. All entries must be research articles published in English during the 2003 calendar year.  
  2.. Articles may be nominated by any member of LRRT or by the editors of research journals in the field of library and information studies. No one may nominate more than two articles.   
  3.. All nominated articles must relate in at least a general way to library and information studies. Any research method is acceptable. 
  4.. Authors of nominated articles need not be LRRT members. 
  5.. Articles by joint investigators are eligible, as are articles generated as a result of a research grant or other source of funding. 
  6.. Research articles will be judged on the following points:
v      Definition of the research problem;

v      Application of research methods;

v      Clarity of the reporting of the research;

v      Significance of the conclusions, as judged by the Committee.

 

  7.. The Committee reserves the right to give no award. 
  8.. The author(s) of the winning article will receive $500; multiple authors will divide the award.

Individuals wishing to nominate research articles for this award should send THREE (3) copies of each article, together with a cover letter stating that he/she is a current member of LRRT or that he/she is acting in his/her role as journal editor, postmarked no later than February 21, 2005 to:
