[Asis-l] NCLIS News Release: Trudi Bellardo Hahn Appointed Interim Executive Director

Washington, DC, October 5, 2004 – The U.S. National Commission of Libraries
and Information Science (NCLIS) today announced that Dr. Trudi Bellardo Hahn
has been hired to be the Interim Executive Director for the Commission.

Trudi is currently Immediate Past President of ASIS&T, co author with
Charles Bourne of this year's Best Information Science Book Award

Beth Fitzsimmons, the Commission’s Chairperson, welcomed Dr. Han to NCLIS
and spoke about her background.  “The Commission is charged with addressing
the library and information needs of the American People, Dr. Fitzsimmons,
of Ann Arbor, MI said.  “Trudi Bellardo Hahn possesses the exact combination
of qualities that will enable NCLIS to do just that.  Her understanding and
her love for the profession of librarianship, and her expertise in
information system and management – together with the esteem in which she is
held by her professional colleagues – mean that we at the Commission will be
working with the highest standards of excellence as we seek to achieve the
Commission’s goals.  All of the Commissioners join me in welcoming Dr. Hahn,
and we look forward to working together.

Dr. Hahn begins her work for NCLIS on November 1.
