MANAGER, SITEWIDE SEARCH and TAXONOMY
NYC

Our client, a major publisher and global media company, is looking for a
Manager of Sitewide Search and Taxonomy - to be responsible for the vision
and functional development of the company's search application as well as
planning and development of the site taxonomy. This is an exciting
opportunity for a candidate who can balance and prioritize the technical and
business issues relevant to site development and to interact with
departments within the company representing project management, business
analysis, product development and marketing.  You will be a critical force
in driving revenue for commerce applications from within the company site.


Responsibilities:
	*	Develop the search product to become an integral and useful
tool for company customers
	*	Develop and execute the site's taxonomy
	*	Lead a task force to develop and implement sitewide tagging
a metadata standards
	*	Create a business plan and long term strategy for the site
search through interaction with and communication with company stakeholders
	*	Communicate strategies to search partner, Verity, to
influence future iterations
	*	Plan the development of the features and functions of the
search product and new releases
	*	Work  with Business Analysts to create requirements and
functional specifications
	*	Collaborate with Verity to implement, analyze and improve
site taxonomy
	*	Manage the site taxonomy and classification rules
	*	Analyze and optimize search results
	*	Lead the team to optimize tagging and metadata - to analyze
impact on search results
	*	Create and track metrics to meet business objectives
	*	 Monitor customer expectations, feedback and satisfaction


Qualifications:
	*	7-10 yrs of relevant work experience including search
product development, Verity, taxonomy development and keyword optimization
and a deep knowledge of the internet industry
	*	Advanced degree in a technology related area preferred
	*	Excellent written and verbal  communication skills to
effectively interact with technical and business experts
	*	Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop business
strategy
	*	Strong leadership and team management skills
