The Department of Library and Information Science in the School of
Information Sciences (http://www.sis.pitt.edu) at the University of
Pittsburgh is seeking candidates for two non-tenure-stream faculty
positions to start no later than Fall Term 2005.

The School emphasizes the synthesis of people, information and
technology, and offers opportunities for research, instruction, and
service spanning the needs of an information-intensive and
increasingly-digital society. The School is seeking candidates who excel
in teaching, with a demonstrated interest in research.

The Department seeks additional faculty members with theoretical
and practical expertise in digital libraries, web-based information
services, analysis and design methodologies, and multimedia information
services.

Candidates who offer complementary expertise in the areas of the
bio/medical informatics, archives, records and preservation management
and/or special and corporate information services are particularly
encouraged to apply. Experience with distance education is an asset.

Candidates who bridge areas of interest are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong interest and current
awareness of the technological and cultural context in which their
knowledge contributes to issues of contemporary society. A record of
collaboration with other scholars is highly desirable.

The positions require an earned doctorate and are
non-tenure-stream appointments at a rank commensurate with qualifications.
Applicants should present a record of effective teaching, research, and
related scholarly activities.

Electronic applications should be sent to
dlissearch at mail.sis.pitt.edu. Applications should include a cover letter,
curriculum vitae, and the names, addresses (with e-mail), and telephone
numbers of three references. For full consideration, applications should
be received by January 14, 2005.

Mailed applications may be sent to:
