Research Specialist
Our Client, a global business consultant, has a position available in their
Boston office. The ideal candidate will have three to four years experience
in a financial, corporate or consulting sector.
Position Summary:
Provides reference and research support to consultants and administrative
staff using appropriate electronic, print, and other resources. Provides
support services for the Information Center including cataloging,
subscription management and print collection maintenance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Staff Reference Desk, provide ready reference and electronic or
print research
* Provide research services for consultants, client development, etc.
as assigned
* Provide ongoing support for asset building activities including
processing orders and new acquisitions, cataloging and serials check-in, end
user system updates, tracking circulation of materials from the collection,
and ongoing maintenance of print and other special collections (newspapers,
periodicals, Special Issues, etc.), participate in collection development
and product evaluation
* Assist in training consulting and administrative staff
* Order publications and retrieve documents for departments and case
teams
* Work with NAIS to track chargebacks and produce reports as required
* Under the guidance of the Manager of the Information Center or a
Senior Research Specialist regularly participate in skill development
activities both internal and external
* Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen skill set by
participating in special projects including the GXC and other Knowledge
Management activities
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Masters of Library Science from an American Library Association
accredited institution or an equivalent combination of education, training
and/or experience is required.
* A minimum of one-year experience in consulting, financial services,
or other professional services environment providing research assistance is
highly desired.
* Basic experience with electronic research tools such as Dialog,
Nexis, or Factiva in a business related environment
* Proficiency in a Windows environment required
* Knowledge of library cataloging processes preferred
* Strong customer service orientation, good written and verbal
communication skills, and attention to detail and accuracy required
* Ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment required
