The Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Simmons College will host a one-day preservation education symposium on its campus on Monday, April 12, 2004. The event is free and open to the profession. The purpose of the symposium is to look at current educational opportunities in LIS programs in North America and to chart a course for a more dynamic and collaborative approach to graduate preservation education.

The symposium will begin with a report on the results of a survey on preservation education undertaken by JeanAnn Croft and Professor Karen Gracy of the University of Pittsburgh. The day will include other presentations, as well as breakout discussion groups, and concluding remarks by Paul Conway, Duke University.

The symposium is sponsored by the H.W. Wilson Foundation. Lunch will be provided, but RSVPs are mandatory. We are requiring that each of you pre-register using the form on our website, http://www.simmons.edu/gslis/ (Please keep watching
this site for new details as they are posted!)
