ENERGY RESEARCH ANALYST
Our client, a global consulting firm, seeks an energy research analyst for a
Dallas location. The position offers excellent salary and benefits and for
the right candidate could involve a base elsewhere in Texas and a commute to
the Dallas office once or twice per week.
Key Role:
Research Analyst is responsible for providing research and analysis
services to Energy client teams on an as needed basis. Support energy client
teams with the ability to provide research and interpretive and analytic
support in client ready format, including the writing and editing of pages,
both responsively and proactively. Provide rapid support for the development
of client proposals and marketing materials by leveraging access to data and
industry information from external sources to develop client ready analyses
and documents. Demonstrate and apply knowledge management best practice to
improve internal processes for the generation and dissemination of
intellectual capital. Work with the energy team leadership to develop a
target list of markets and segments for in-depth surveys.
Skills required
* Pro-active and entrepreneurial: candidate must demonstrate
innovation and ability to identify opportunities to improve services to the
client teams, and convert these opportunities into practical solutions.
Equally candidate must demonstrate commercial acumen combined with
pragmatism when delivering solutions
* 5+ years of experience in researching and analysing businesses in
the energy industry, primarily oil & gas and utilities and both across the
value chain
* Demonstrate understanding of microeconomics and statistics
* Possess extensive knowledge of external sources of industry content
hard copy and online
* Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
* Prepare surveys to deliver a fundamental understanding of the market
and segment, to include:
a. Industry structure, including characteristics of supply and demand
b. Key competitors and their capabilities
c. Impact of new technologies
d. Understanding and segmentation of customers
Coordination:
Coordinate all requests for support for the U.S. energy team. Liaise with
Energy Senior Research Analyst to ensure NMT receives a cohesive service
offering. Build linkages to the wider firm IPC function to enable the
leveraging of cross industry research and intellectual capital.
Education/Certifications or equivalent required:
BA or BS degree in a related field required , MLS or MBA preferred
Background in the Energy area required
