Regional Research Manager
Our client, a prestigious Global professional services firm,is seeking a
Regional Research Manager. This individual has accountability for leading
and managing the research function in the South/West region. This includes
supervision of up to 20 staff members in multiple locations in the
development and implementation of business research and research analysis
products and services to meet the various knowledge needs of internal
clients.
*This position can be located in Dallas, Los Angeles or Houston.
Responsibilities:
Primary and Secondary Research Management
Oversee the quality, timeliness and cost effectiveness of delivered research
and research analysis services, and work with local Research Coordinators to
ensure the quality and value of services and deliverables in offices in the
region.
Oversee and lead daily business research and research analysis operations in
a geographic region and ensure effective management of research and research
analysis projects.
Establish and communicate the vision, direction, and goals for Knowledge
Services (KS) generally and the Business Research Group (BRG) specifically
as a contributing member of the BRG Management Team, and extended KS
Management Team. Determine policies and procedures, and ensure management
"best practices" are internally communicated and implemented.
Manage resources needed to complete research and analysis products across
the firm and for external clients. Serve as Project Manager for the most
complex and highest visibility research and research analysis projects that
involve estimating and tracking schedules and budgets across KS or on a
global basis.
Product/Service Development & Maintenance
Build and maintain relationships with management and key customers; promote
awareness of the value of utilizing the Knowledge Center's capabilities and
address customer service issues.
Serve as Knowledge Services Advisor to one or more teams of research,
analysis and network coordination specialists in an industry and/or practice
area.
Identify, develop, measure and review research and research analysis
products and services to meet customer demand.
Create and develop new service models and market deliverables in response to
market changes and new customer requirements. (e.g., presentations, analyst
for hire, analyst on call, web delivery).
Serve as a point of reference for the research and research analysis
process, and as the final escalation point for customer service issues.
Mentoring, Learning and Staffing
Manage the training and development of staff members to develop their skills
and maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in their area of responsibility.
Maintain awareness of general trends and issues in business information
services operations, including technological advancements in secondary
research applications.
Perform counseling responsibilities for assigned staff. Advise and support
counselors of staff in respective regions.
Develop industry-leading models for development, recruitment, retention and
training. Ensure the sharing of "best practices" across regions.
Responsible for monitoring, tracking and achieving performance goals across
the region.
Requirements:
The incumbent of this position must have:
Education:
- Master's degree or equivalent work experience required.
Experience:
- 10-15 years experience in an information services or analysis capacity
with a minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in a
professional services environment.
- experience managing a large staff of geographically-dispersed information
professionals strongly preferred
- experience with knowledge management tools and techniques a plus
Skills:
- exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation
skills; demonstrate flexibility in organizing work issues
- the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
- the ability to organize, lead, manage and work with team members
- strong project management skills; demonstrated ability to meet multiple
deadlines in a fast-paced, changing environment
- broad knowledge of general business research tools, sources and databases
- proficiency in MS Word; Lotus Notes preferred
This position may require up to 50% travel.
