*Description:*
Join your colleagues in the exploration of several current and future 
technological developments and their implications upon our professional 
services to our customers.

The program begins with a look at digital reference services offered by 
the OhioLINK network. Deborah Tenofsky, Head of Reference at the 
University of Cincinnati Langsam Library, will discuss how chat 
reference has changed the nature of reference services from both the 
perspective of librarians and customers.

Next, a representative from the Kent State University Institute for 
CyberInformation will describe the Kent Electronic Newspaper Research 
Alliance Project which is a joint venture with the Los Angeles Times, 
Adobe Systems and Unisys Corporation to develop electronic portable 
newspapers using a Tablet PC that incorporates Web interactivity and 
hypermedia displays.

Gary Houk, Vice-President of Cataloging and Metadata Services at OCLC, 
will share some exciting new developments resulting from the partnership 
between OCLC and Google in adopting search engine capabilities to the 
online catalog. He will also examine the future of the catalog in light 
of current and future technologies.
