The Potomac Valley Chapter of ASIST Presents:

"Website Design, E-Commerce, and Database Integration: Implementing the
NIH's
Diabetes Information Clearinghouse"

...in conjunction with the Chapter's Annual Business Meeting


WHEN: October 1, 2003 (Wednesday), 6:30pm, social hour and dinner, with the
program to follow.

WHERE: Social and Academic Center at the Foundation for Advanced Education
in the Sciences (FAES) Bethesda, MD

COST: $25 members, $30 non-members, $10 student members

Is your organization involved in a website design or re-design project?
Are you looking
for guidance on how your website will work with your existing database
structures?  Do you
want to know what steps should be considered in usability testing?  What
are the major
elements in planning a major website design project?

Come to our first program of the Fall!  It's going to be outstanding.

This program will focus on the process, design and implementation of the
new online
catalog for NIH's National Institute on Diabetes, Digestive Diseases, and
Kidney &
Urologic Diseases (NIDDK) clearinghouses.

More than a case study, this program will run through the pitfalls and
necessary
decisions required for a website design/redesign project, including the
following items:

1. Website design elements
2. Architecture of an e-commerce package and the decisions that must be
made
3. Usability testing and how it affected final implementation
4. Integration with existing databases.


The program presented by Dan Unger and Jon Simons of the Web Development
Team at
Eagle Design & Management, Inc.


Not only will this be an outstanding program, but this is an opportunity to
