The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society for Information Science
& Technology (NJ/ASIS&T) proudly announces Dr. Christine L. Borgman as
the recipient of its seventeenth annual Distinguished Lectureship Award.
The NJ Chapter established this award in 1985 to honor individuals who
have made significant contributions to the field of information science.
Due to the stature of the awardees, this award has become internationally
known over the past decades. You are cordially invited to attend the
events surrounding the presentation of this year's award.

Dr. Borgman's teaching and research interests include digital libraries,
human-computer interaction, information-seeking behavior, learning in
science, scholarly communication, electronic publishing, bibliometrics,
and information technology policy.  She is currently a co-principal
investigator for the Center for Embedded Networked Systems (CENS) and
for the Alexandria Digital Earth Prototype (ADEPT) project.  See also

Professor Christine Borgman will present her research in a talk entitled

         "Digital Libraries: Past, Present, and Future"

Abstract:
The talk will provide an overview of digital libraries, including the
competing definitions of the term, and address how they developed,
discuss current issues of research and practice, and highlight emerging
issues and trends.
