SYSTEMS MANAGER

Responsibilities of the Position:  Oversee, maintain, upgrade & develop system infrastructure for LAN/WAN & library intranet.  System includes 15+ servers and 150+ PCs.  Develop, implement, and oversee technology and web-based services.  Oversee telecommunication and telephone systems.  Plan, coordinate, evaluate, oversee and implement projects, upgrades, new software and databases and other systems.  Upgrade, maintain, and support existing hardware, software and systems.  Document system and system procedures.  Write specifications for technology projects and purchases.   Troubleshoot and respond to network and PC problems.  Develop, provide, and oversee staff training in the use of applications, software, and hardware.  Prepare reports, RFQs and RFPs.  Oversee vendor relations and contracts.  Oversee and supervise systems support staff.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:  3-4 years of experience with network management, Windows, GroupWise, PCs, and Microsoft products.  Novell Netware experience a plus.  1-2 years web development and management experience.  2-3 years of experience in project management and staff supervision.  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent degree or 3+ years related experience may substitute for degree; preference given to applicants with technical certifications.  MLIS from an ALA accredited institution a plus.  Experience with an integrated online library system, Sun/Solaris, Unix, Checkpoint a plus.  Collaborative, hands-on style with exceptional follow through.  Strong interpersonal, communication, and written/verbal skills, including the ability to explain and train "non-technical" individuals in the effective use of all relevant systems.  Multi-tasking, able to handle multiple projects with competing deadlines.  Maintains strong knowledge of latest technology.  Able to define scope and parameters of projects, complete in a timely manner and manage change.  Possess skills to train, motivate, and develop staff.

Reporting, Pay Range and Benefits:  The position reports to the Systems and Information Services Manager. The pay range for the position is $40,000 - $68,500 per year plus a 22.05% net pay increase through an employer-paid contribution to the Public Employees Retirement System.  An excellent benefit package is also provided.
