SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN FOR NC LIVE

NC LIVE (www.nclive.org), a public-private partnership among more than
200 North Carolina libraries and academic institutions statewide, seeks
a Systems Librarian to advance its vision of each library in North
Carolina serving as a gateway to a rich array of electronic information.
The Systems Librarian will support the NC LIVE help desk and act as
liaison between staff of NC LIVE affiliated libraries, NC LIVE technical
staff and NC LIVE database vendors. S/He will manage requests for
customization of vendor resources from participating libraries; provide
support for NC LIVE database and technical issues and maintain the NC
LIVE troubleshooting database. The NC LIVE Systems Librarian will
develop web site enhancements, assess scalability and resource
requirements, and help refine the migration of projects from prototype
to implementation. S/He will implement a program of outreach and
instruction for librarians at member institutions.

Qualifications
Required: ALA-accredited MLS, or equivalent advanced degree in
Information Science or related field.  Education and/or experience with
web-based library reference sources, current web authoring applications,
and relational databases. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal
communication skills.  Ability to work independently within a highly
interactive team environment.  Able to set priorities and resolve
competing demands.  Preferred: Relevant professional experience at a
help desk providing technical support or reference service.  Two years'
experience in academic and/or public libraries. Experience in more than
one type of library desirable. Familiarity with relevant technical
standards, hardware and software. Operational experience with library
systems.  Demonstrated ability to be an effective trainer or presenter

Salary and Benefits
The salary is competitive, in recognition of applicable education and
experience, not less than $44,000 for this position. Librarians have
non-tenure track faculty status (without levels of rank). Benefits
include: Health insurance (comprehensive major medical); State, TIAA/
CREF or other retirement options. 24 vacation days. Relocation
allowance.
