Strengthening Editors and Scientists Capabilities in Electronic
Publishing
The Latin American Workshop "Strengthening Editors and Scientists
Capabilities in Electronic Publishing" will be held at the
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Av. Brasil 2950,
Valparaíso, Chile in January 14-15, 2004.

It is jointly organized by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de
Valparaíso (PUCV), Centro Argentino de Información Científica y
Tecnológica (CAICYT), the International Council for Science
(ICSU) and the International Network for the Availability of
Scientific Publications (INASP) and sponsored by the Comisión
Asesora Bibliotecas y Documentación del Consejo de Rectores de
las Universidades Chilenas (CABID) and the Science and
Development Network (SciDev.Net).
This event receives financial support from the Committee on the
Dissemination of Scientific Information (CDSI / ICSU), the
National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research
(CONICYT), Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences
Information (BIREME / PAHO /WHO), and UNESCO.
This Workshop will provide editors and scientists, specially from
biological and medical areas, with introductory issues for
improving present system in science communication and with
knowledge and skills necessary to prepare articles making use of
the advantages offered by the electronic format. It will include
case studies and group exercises in which participants will be
able to apply those concepts and techniques most relevant to
their own experience.
