“People join companies, they quit Managers.” - Unknown

What are the keys to being a successful manager of people? This session will
compare and contrast proper with improper management techniques encouraging
new managers to avoid the latter. Participants will first explore the traits
and qualities of a good manager and those of a bad one through group
participation and retrospection. Later, through participation, group
activity, role-plays, and instructor presentation, participants will gain
practice in managing people based on a foundation of giving and earning
respect and of being firm, fair and consistent.

Topics Include:
--The worst manager I ever had - (Please don’t let me be like him/her!)
--The best manager I ever had
--THE RIGHT APPROACH
--Management vs. Leadership
--Finding, hiring and keeping excellent employees
--Developing a team that will follow you anywhere
--Employee development - Building for the future
--Respect - Earning it and giving it
--Recognition
--Rewards
--Employee performance appraisals
--Diversity
--Firm, fair and consistent management
--Caring, really caring about your people
