Catalog Librarian
New York City - 28 hours/week
Our client, a national civil rights organization, has an opportunity for a
cataloger to join their staff. The successful candidate will have
experience with automated systems and be skilled in both copy cataloging and
original cataloging of print and non-print materials. This is a
contract-to-permanent position. Fully paid medical/health benefits will be
available once the position becomes permanent.
Responsibilities:
* Performing original and copy cataloging of print, non-print and
special library collections.
* Assisting the Library Director in formulating cataloging policies
and procedures.
* Managing the automated catalog and back-up system.
* Training staff on library automation systems
* Providing research and reference assistance when needed.
* Supervising library staff on cataloging-related projects.
Qualifications:
* MLS from ALA accredited program required.
* 2 or more years cataloging experience.
* Knowledge of MARC, OCLC and AACR2.
* Knowledge of automated library/cataloging systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
