As a manager, staff professional or team leader, you perform a critical role
in directing employees to successfully achieve your organization's goals. To
obtain the maximum results from your employees and team members, it is
essential that you stay up-to-date with the skills and knowledge needed to
manage.

To meet this demand, Ohio Valley Area Libraries (OVAL) Regional Library
System and Community and Professional Programs of Ohio University are
offering a series of management development programs in 2003. Upon
completion of the series, you will have established a strong foundation in
current management practices.

This Dynamic Library Management Certificate program is a two-part,
structured series of practical seminars that help you develop the skills
needed to be an effective leader and manager of people. The emphasis is on
helping you develop effective practices for coping with the problems,
challenges and opportunities you face every day at work.

The Dynamic Library Management I Certificate program is designed for
managers who have not had previous formal management training; newly romoted
managers and supervisors who need to learn basic management techniques and
skills; and people who want to prepare themselves for management positions.

Once completed, participants may choose to move on to our Dynamic Library
Management II Certificate program. It is designed for experienced managers
who want to move beyond the fundamentals into more specialized areas of
management; managers who want to keep up-to-date on the latest management
skills; and people who are preparing for middle-to-upper level management
positions.

One class will be offered once per month for four months per series starting
in March 2003. Each class is $125.00 and runs two days from 9:00 a.m. to
4:00 p.m. Each class earns 1.2 CEUs or a total of 7.2 CEUs for the entire
certificate.
