TERI in partnership with the Department of Culture, Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India intends to organize a four-day International Conference on Digital Libraries (ICDL). CIEMCA/ COL is also an associate.
ICDL 2004 will facilitate interaction between experts and others, bridge knowledge gaps between developing and developed countries, and initiate capacity building activities in DLs (digital libraries). The deliberations of globally renowned experts - and subsequent discussions - during and after the conference, will help develop a road map for the digitization of archives, manuscripts, and libraries. ICDL 2004 will also provide directions on available technologies, digitization acts, DL policies, knowledge-sharing mechanisms, multilingual issues, etc.

Call for Tutorials:
The main aim of these tutorials will allow participants to become familiar with basic principles of the field, to receive technical training in the area of Digital Libraries and making them aware of the potential of digital libraries in the current scenario.

Paper submission guidelines:

Extended abstracts (500 words) in English are to be submitted in
MS Word format. The review committee will take the final decision regarding paper acceptance. Once accepted, the complete papers (5000 words) are to be submitted within the scheduled time frame. All papers must be original contributions and authors of the accepted papers are expected to transfer the copyright to TERI. Authors are requested to visit the ICDL web site for more details.

Programme structure:

ICDL 2004 will have a mix of educative events and programmes spread over four days.
Tutorials: Day 1(24 February)
Leading researchers and practitioners will present the tutorials.
Conference sessions: Day 2, 3, and 4 (25-27 February)
Plenary, parallel, and poster sessions will engage the delegates in a wide range of presentations from leading national and international experts.
Panel discussions, Valedictory session: Day 4 (27 February)
Policy-makers, media-persons, academics, and techno-experts will discuss digitization initiatives in the developing world to frame a plan of action.
Business sessions: Day 2 and 3 (25-26 February)
ICDL 2004 opens up excellent opportunities for organizations involved in develo-ping and providing digital and knowledge management solutions to reach a global audience through product presentations.
Exhibitors: Day 1, 2, 3, and 4 (24-27 February)
ICDL 2004 welcomes organizations to showcase their best products/technologies at the venue. Space is available for 25 exhibitors. Stalls of 2 × 2 metres and 2 × 3 metres will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
